Commercial Drive in East Vancouver used to be Little Italy, but over the
years, as families matured, many of them moved several miles East to
North Burnaby. Commercial Drive remained the cultural soul of the
community, so in anticipation of the festivities for FIFA Africa, the first
Italy Day since 1982 was held on the Drive for Italians of all Nationalities.
