| George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary / big-map
11/3/10 |
The trip from my place to Cloverdale, a district within Surrey, takes just over 2 hours, the first 2 thirds on Skytrain,
paralleling Highway 1A,the last bit by bus. To get to Reifel (pronounced rifle), we drove across Surrey,
across the city of Delta and into the rural municipality of Delta. There are 2 town centres in Delta,
Tsawaassen, where the ferry terminal is and Ladner, where the sanctuary is. The channel of the Fraser
that runs past Ladner and south of Westham Island is called Deas Slough. I'll be mentioning these places later,
so memorize the map. Right at the bottom left of the map you can see Deltaport Way.
One of the major construction projects going on right now is a new freeway from Deltaport (picture to follow)
across Delta to connect to the Trans Canada Highway in North Surrey.
That will probably lead to a lot of development of all sorts around here. There are detractors.
